Last week I talked about my enduring Christmasy love for the Muppets – today I want to share a lesser-known but equally-brilliant Christmas album: Beary Christmoose.
I will never forget the day I discovered this Christmas fruitcake of a record. I was in Banff with one of the Sisters, and we wandered into Duck Duck Moose (a delightful kids’ store, if you’re ever in the area). “We Three Bears (Full of Oreos Are)” was playing on the CD previewing station, and Kelsey and I spent half an hour listening to it over and over. And by “listening,” I mean doubled over laughing so hard we could hardly hear the words.
Naturally, we both bought copies.
It’s hard to find “kid” music that also appeals to adults, but this album fits the bill. A mixture of original songs and classics given a furry twist, I guarantee it will bring a smile to your face and a dance to your feet. Excellent for listening to in the car!
You can preview all of the songs at CD Baby, and a couple are available for free download. The Beary Christmoose version of “Jingle Bells” is hands down the best that’s ever been recorded. Check it out!
What little known gem is at the top of YOUR Christmas playlist?
