Unfortunately, I did not personally see these whales, although Tech Support (now also known as “Book Tour Roadie”) saw a humpback one morning while I was sleeping in. Next time I visit Vancouver Island, I’ll try to spend less time touring and more time being a tourist.
If you’re an orca fan, I HIGHLY recommend Nathaniel Benchley’s children’s book, Kilroy and the Gull. It’s out of print, but worth tracking down – I’ve read my copy to pieces. If you prefer humpback whales, check out my own Humpback Whale Migration, which was very popular on the BC leg of the tour!
