Science Rendezvous Kingston May 13, 2023

What do you get when four award-winning children’s authors combine forces? A tsunami of STEM exploration – complete with actual waves!

Visitors to our booth at Science Rendezvous Kingston will get a behind-the-scenes look at how authors create STEM books out of cutting-edge science. From fractals and Fibonacci spirals, from ocean layers to ocean currents, from fossils to fox teeth, there will be something here for everyone—including storytimes featuring brand new Canadian children’s science books.

Activities may include:
  • Blasting off in paper rockets
  • Huddling for heat retention
  • Exploring biodiversity at different ocean depths
  • A model of countershading for camouflage
Take-home items will include:
  • A list of links to free, online Teacher’s Guides for STEM books on a range of topics
  • An activity sheet for POLAR: Wildlife at the Ends of the Earth
