Great Big Book News!

I’M WRITING A BOOK FOR KIDS CAN PRESS.

KIDS CAN PRESS, PEOPLE.

Unless you’re in the biz, you may not know that Kids Can Press was named Best Children’s Publisher in North America for 2017. You might not know that Kids Can Press publishes beautiful, wonderful, ground-breaking books by some seriously awesome Canadian authors and illustrators, including two of my favourite science writing peeps, Helaine Becker and Claire Eamer. You might not know that Kids Can Press books routinely appear on bestseller lists and are nominated for – and win – awards.

But you probably know about Franklin the Turtle. Kids Can Press publishes Franklin the Turtle.

*dances around the office giggling hysterically*

ANYWAY. This is the reason I haven’t been around the blog much lately. I have been working harder than I’ve ever worked on a book I hope will be better than any I’ve ever written, for a publisher I am both humbled and honoured to be partnered with.

I can’t tell you the title because we haven’t decided on one yet. I can’t show you the cover because KCP is still choosing an illustrator (AN ILLUSTRATOR, Y’ALL – EEEK!). But I can tell you that the book is about the boreal forest. And I can tell you that it’s not like any other book about the forest there’s ever been.  And I can definitely tell you that I’m having the time of my life, and that I hope that when you read it, it will show.

Coming in 2020!
