Should I See the Live Action Pete’s Dragon?

January 28, 2017

Courtesy of Disney, natch!

Want to know how to tell when you’ve been friends with someone for too long? Text exchanges like this one, which I swear is 100% true:

Her: I’m in the medicentre. Since when is Elliot a girl’s name?
Me: Um. Elliot is a dragon’s name, actually.
Her: He has, the head of a camel, the neck of a crocodile…
Me: It sounds rather strange!
Her: He’s both, a fish and a mammal and I hope he’ll never change…
Us: ROFL!

So has anyone seen the live action Pete’s Dragon yet? I’ve had very mixed feelings towards the Disney remakes. LOVED Maleficent, bored to tears during Cinderella. Jungle Book was pretty to look at, but dragged for me. Share your thoughts in the comments!

  1. My three kids (in their thirties and forties now) and I all have the original Pete’s Dragon memorized. When we heard a new version was being made, we were unanimous that we have NO desire to see it and sully our happy memories. In fact, I think I’ll watch the original again tonight!

    1. That’s kind of the direction I’m leaning. The original is so much fun, and I love the songs… I’m afraid to ruin it!

  2. Disney ruined That Darn Cat with the remake and won’t release the original in digital. I’m still bitter about that, though I loved the remake of Freaky Friday. But probably not here…
