May Contain Cat

November 26, 2015

We have two cats, Sasquatch and Jagular, both of whom love to take naps in seriously odd places. Sasquatch once managed to crawl inside the duvet cover, a fact I discovered when I pulled the duvet off the bed to change the sheets, and on different cat-accompanied road trips, Jagular managed to a) climb inside the torn box spring and b) into the three-inch gap underneath a bedside table. The last was particularly memorable, because from the front and sides, there was no gap. It took an hour of searching and moving every piece of furniture in the room to locate her.

As a result of this ingenuity, all of our stuff contains the implicit warning label “may contain cat.” Here are a couple of the more creative places the kitties have been located in just the last month.

  1. Most unique napping/hiding place was when Mumford (the magnificent) inserted himself under the covers of a waterbed. The water obligingly parted, cat sank even with surface level, and the covers remained perfectly flat. It took my Bob forever to find him — thanks only to the psychic link between the two of them. Wish I had a picture, but the cat was invisible at the time.

    1. I think all cats come equipped with stealth mode. Half the times I turn around I nearly trip over one that wasn’t standing there a minute ago.
